Changes to the Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) Program
18 December, 2013
The government has recently make an announcement about the surprise cut in funding for the EEO Program in the Mid-Year Economic Forecast. The EEO program office will continue to operate in its current form until 30 June 2014. After that date, the funding savings that have been announced will be derived from a reduction or discontinuation in the cost of administration of the EEO Program. Companies with obligations under the Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act 2006 are still required to lodge any Assessment Plans or Government Reports that are due by 31 December 2013, and are still required to publish Public Reports. The Energy Efficiency Opportunities Act 2006 is still legislated and continues to remain in effect. Until this changes the Federal Government has an obligation to administer the Act.
